Our HOA is still developer controlled/owned. Plus we have a terrible MC... Well it appears the "violation" police is out issuing out fines. Someone who has a basketball goal in their driveway was issued one. They went off on our FB page. This then triggered the whole "Can't wait till we own the HOA so we can get X amenities"... It should be noted that we are allowed to own basketball goals but they have to be put out of view once done or kept in back yard. I reminded this person and they accused me of insulting them...
So now these people are wanting a pool, a fishing pond, clubhouse, or a playground. I gently mentioned that if they wanted these things we have to pay for them. The HOA is ONLY funded by it's members for it's members. A pool and pool house alone could be 100K. A playground around 20K. A clubhouse could be $300 K as it's what houses are selling for in the area.
The response was painful and hilarious. Many are saying my numbers are "made up". I've priced out a playground and 20K is conservative. The funniest response yet? "Our dues already pay enough to afford these things"... Uhm... We pay $150 a YEAR! How in the world do we have $100K in our budget to purchase a pool/Pool house?
It does look like getting the fact that people VOLUNTEER for their HOA may be getting through. It's just so painful to listen so some of these people get no grasp of time, money, and effort a HOA takes...
Sorry had to vent and let it out... It's like watching a slow train wreck...
