The water company charges our New Jersey HOA a monthly fee of $233 for seven fire hydrants located within the HOA grounds on our private roads. The same water company charges roughly $60/month to the NJ municipality we are located in for hydrants on public roads. The fees are ostensibly to maintain adequate water pressure in the event of a fire. I am interested in hearing from other HOA's incurring similar hydrant fees, as this fee discrepancy (233 vs 60), is in my opinion double taxation.
