There are probably too many HOAS in that state to say for certain, but I suspect this is the norm everywhere. With staggered terms, you can be assured there will always be a mix of newer and more experienced board members because you don't want a situation where e erodes new and has go learn things from scratch.

At least that's the way it should work. The problem starts when people leave and the board appoints a replacement or the spot remains unfilled because no one wants the job. If you don't keep track of when terms begin and end, there will be confusion with some board members not being elected at the right time.

This happened in my community and tge secretary and I ended up reviewing tow or three years of board minutes to figure out when peopke were elected, resigned, returned, resigned again, got appointed to finish a term, got elected, reelected- and then resigned again.

You really should be more concerned with your own community because you don't live in the others. If there's a question as to whether it's time for someone to run again, you may need to consult tge minutes from the past few years to get a sense of what's supposed go happen. If you still can't figure you should still have an idea of who's been there longer than anyone- that person ir persons may need to run this year and the rest the next.

This is also why an odd numbered board is usually best. For example, if you have a seven member board, because three can run this year, three the next and two after that, or alternate between four and three

Don't know about FL or any other stare, but they're best as Shelia points out.

BUT....what do your Bylaws say?
