they are the norms almost everywhere, but check your bylaws to be sure. ours do not even mention that elections should be every year. they just say 3 board members with terms offset one year.

It is whatever is in your HOA specific documentation. HOA's are all separate entities with their own set of rules.

Staggered terms are desirable as some are left on the BOD with "corporate memory" and experience. We are a BOD of five with two year staggered terms. Meaning one year two positions are open for a two year term and the next year 3 positions are open for a two year term. Having an election every year show we are open to owner participation.

We have a board that elects new people but the people elected cannot take the set for 7 mos. from the day of election,so we have people that drop out of running for the board i was told that most HOA newly elected people took the seat right away and the President had 5 days to turn over everything if its a New President.

Typically newly elected BOD Members take their seat at the next BOD Meeting. In many case the "next" BOD Meeting is held right after the Annual Meeting when they were elected. Also, many hold an Officer Election at this same meeting.

Why can't the new directors take a seat on the Board when elected, Norman? What do your Bylaws say?

Also, Owners elect members of the board, i.e., directors. The the new board o directors act officers, e.g., prez, V.P.

What size is you HOA? You know? Its proablabl better to start a new Topic as your is different that this one.

S'cuse typos in my above, which concurs with JohnC. It sounds like you don't have a property/community manager, DavidM?

Thats what i have heard but i can't find any rules or laws that say that some say the President made it that way as the elections are in the Middle of March and the President leaves to go back up north right after and returns in Nov.
