Hello, I have a situation with another resident in my building, he was acting violent so I called the police on him. I got a temporary restraining order. The day after he was served he violated the order , I called police, had him arrested.
My property manager is new , she started working here on 12/19/22. When the situation first started she told me that she couldn't do anything about it. She also told me that if I kept calling the police it would make this community look bad and it's reputation would also suffer.
She has involved herself with the other resident, she talked to him for an hour and a half and states he is not violent. She also said she is helping him to move. What she is doing for him is fine but she has said for me to stop calling the police and I never should have had him arrested. I have sent her emails about the situation but only to document it. I do not wish to have any conversations with her about this situation but I don't know how to do that and if I should do that.
The prosecutors office offered the man a deal, I don't know if he took it or if he is out of jail.
Thank in advance for help.

"Dear property manager, thank you for advice but this is now a private issue and I'll handle it in a manner that I feel is appropriate for me."

End of story. Ignore this person.

John has provided an excellent and polite response to use to the PM

Kudos to JohnT. I think I'd delete "now," but that' just me, as it's always been a private issue.

If I were on the board of this community, I'd want to know that the new manager is overstepping. She could potentially create liability issues for the association.

It may feel like tattling, but I suggest copying the board on your response to the manager. Hopefully that will prompt the board to take a closer look.

There are going to be people who are going to make personal issues into "HOA" issues. Usually it's the person who is complaining about someone else. They go to the HOA wanting them to handle the issue when it's really a neighbor versus neighbor issue. My gut feel is that this person turned to the HOA upon the issue having with you. You probably did not run to the HOA to handle the issue. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. That is why the PM is most likely involved because they got "greased".

Do not know all of the details involved in the situation. I don't take any side in this because there is an argument for both sides of what ever happened. If you felt had to call the police, then that is the path you need to follow. This takes it out of the HOA/PM view. I would just respond that this is a police matter now. If there is a HOA violation involved then let me know that information. Otherwise, I will handle the personal issue by legal means between the other party involved. Thank you.

I like Cathy's idea to copy the Board.

Hello,
This started because the man got a citation from the ASCPS ,he left his dog out in 28 degree weather. The ASCPS told him who reported him, me. So he preceeded to harrass me. You are right this is a neighbor vs neighbor issue. I never asked the pm for any help or anyone from the board as I knew it was not an hoa issue. The pm involved herself in the situation, no one asked her to. I am involved and another neighbor is involved and the pm is telling us not to call the police or have the man arrested if he breaks the order of protection. I just wanted to know how to deal with her. The police have been here three times, the man was arrested. The pm is all for the man and saving the reputation of the community .
I emailed the regional manager , her boss, in the management company that we have about her actions. I imagine I will hear about it next week.
Thank you for your reply.
