Had a "funny" conversation with an encounter with my one neighbor. Mind you both my neighbors beside me are in multiple violations. You would be proud to know that my opinion is that it is the HOA's job to enforce them not mine. So I don't take the time out to report them. It's pretty obvious of their violations there is no need to waste the effort. Do believe my other neighbors are reporting them though.

They stopped me when walking my dogs to ask me if I was reporting them to the HOA? I told them nope it was not me. I informed them that the violations are part of the HOA's job. They are the ones that write the violations up and fines. My guess is that the HOA or someone drives around to view things.

I now am assuming my neighbors think I am a "Karen". Which is quite funny because their violations are so obvious there is no need to point them out. We are talking parking in the middle of the road on top of a median. Plus not painting their fences. Having not been approved to put that fence up. Plus putting it on the property line... Oh and one putting in playground and trampolines in their back yards. Leaving trash cans out on the street for days...

I just go inside my house and ignore them as much as possible... Find it funny that they want to blame me for their violations and not following the rules!

(BTW: I know who is reporting them... Saw the pictures. Just keeping my mouth shut).

Ah, HOAs...

You know, while I was reading BillD16's joke in the "This Just In" thread, I thought the punch line was going to be that Hell is an HOA.

Yeah I thought about the irony... Did not tell them I am an ex HOA President. I am taking the "zen" approach.

Both neighbors are going couples not lived in a HOA before. Had to explain to one of them they got the documents at closing. They were puzzled.

Update. Walked by neighbors house. Notice they painted the front of their fence. Looks like the fines are finally getting to them...

You know … that could work!

Re the neighbors and violations: if you told them the truth, then there’s not much you can do except to hold your head high. You were honest, they can believe it or not. I’m sure I’ve got neighbors who wonder about me reporting them. No-one has ever asked - but the simple truth is that I’ve never reported anyone for anything. Nothing has ever reached the level where something like public safety overrode my built-in anti-snitch sentiments.

I’ve gotten philosophical about this stuff while serving on the Board. I think that maybe 10-20% of the general population is composed of people like Lucy van Pelt (from Peanuts), who take The Rules very seriously. I’ve often had issues with people like this. But I’m coming to believe that these people serve a purpose in preventing civilization from falling down around us. I don’t like it - I don’t care much for taxes, either - but they’re a necessary part of society.

Do these clowns not realize there is an HOA person that looks for violations?

Apparently they do not know that the PM does look for violations. I do not see them do it but know they do. We are still being built out so the builders are on site.

I noticed they put up a small fence on the side of the house which many use to hide their cans from the street. So figured the HOA is finally getting through to them they mean Business.

They do not talk to me but I do not care. Just kind of painful watching them learn about HOAs...

Board member lives next to me. He has much debris, stacks of building material in various places on his yard. He has a large farm size tractor, the size of a large SUV, positioned to where only my lot and another neighbor, with whom he that tractor family is friends, can see it. It is positioned tight against his house so it cannot be seen by any other view, a situation likely showing he knows he is not supposed to have it in his yard.

I am not going to report it, but if I ever hear about someone else in the subdivision getting a violation about something I think is lesser or equal, I will inform that family of this Board member's yard.
