Thinking of installing an announcement sign at the main entrance to the HOA
Font size at least 4” tall or bigger .
Do people actually read them?

The scrolling led ones would be easy to program the message

Any other types that are recommended

Had an old wood sign that people would post letter sized paper to and no one could see from their car

Thanks

I think the scrolling LED signs are a little tacky. You might need to check with your city to be sure that they are compliant with the city sign code, if they have one.

We use A-frame signs and have a printshop print 24x36 inserts. Our lettering is usually about 230 point font which translates to about 3" tall letters. They are clearly readable while driving. The advantage is we can use more than letters - colorful graphics, pictures, etc can go on the sandwich board signs as well.

The signs are temporary and only up a week or two, maybe 2-3 times per year.

The sign inserts costs about $70/each including shipping.

I would read a static sign as I exited the development.
I doubt I would read a scrolling sign as I would want to pay attention to traffic so I can merge into it.

I never read the signs entering a development because I'm too busy looking for children playing.

Signs for events are posted in our mailrooms in our high rise lobbies. But residents don't seem to read them or even elevator notices (???). They do seem to read e-blasts.

My wife runs the social Committee. We blast emails, post on FB, and have flyers on. Bulletin board by out mailboxes. People will still be surprised when they hear others talking about an event. β€œKaraoke? When was that? β€œ

Our Board meetings were always held on the last Thursday of the month. Three days before the meeting we posted signs at our two entrances. It definitely increased the number of people that came.

Ok thanks for suggestions. I think I’ll get the 30x40” aluminum snap frame outdoor signs and then get posters printed for $20 each at a photo lab and then bolt onto the stop sign post

I read signs but I pay attention to surroundings, so maybe not normal response.

Hope it works for your assn., MarkR!

The worst Board many years ago knew the possible perils to their idiotic reign of Owners getting together at social events. A previous board had approved a nice budget for Social Committee events. The Board, wanting to keep owners apart, removed all notice holders from the elevators and the bulletin boards from the mailrooms. The scheduled events weren't in the monthly newsletter. The Committee members put notices under condo doors, etc.

This bad behavior by the Board is what eventually led to their losing in the next election
