Thinking of getting some flowers for our community manager tomorrow. Tomorrow is also national sewing day, so gotta get some flowers for my mother in law who does all the family sewing chores too.

Yeah I know it's just a hallmark holiday, but is anyone else sending gifts to their community manager? I guess I'll send to main office since if I was a community manager I'd want to keep my address private due to crazy people.

Thad,

I plan to celebrate community manager day once we establish Volunteer Leader Day.

I'd never heard of this day before now, but when I was on the boatd, we did pass the the hat among the board members and got purr property manager a Christmas caravans gift card at the end of the year. When the last one retired, it was a card, flowers, a bigger gift card and we had light refreshments during the meeting.

But why wait for a specific day? When you see someone doing good work whether it's the property manager or a board member, why not say "thank you" every once in a while? You'd be surprised what a difference it makes in someone's life, especially if they happened to be having a really bad day.

Our former PM was not allowed to accept gifts of any sort from the communities she managed, not even trivial little tchotchkes. Gifts can create unwanted expectations.

You know what she would really have wanted? A note to the owner of the company she worked for telling him how much we appreciated her. Client satisfaction was considered when the owner was determining raises for the next year, so a note like that was valuable.

sure, where is the edit button genius? Maybe if the admins actually gave a crap about updating the forum software? You know bring it from 1980 to 2022? allow something amazing like pictures and video to be posted without having to know html coding.

The group of people here usually looks down on gifts - going so far to call a thank you card a gift.

I appreciate the reminder and will send our PM a note of gratitude. She send me a note of appreciation on President's Day even though my name is not George Washington.

Glad to know this. Our PM has only been with us one week, I'll write a nice card for him telling him I'm rooting for him!

As you well know, MichaelT, many on this forum don't think their board should spend Assn. funds on gifts for anyone. They argue that board members can chip in to get a small gift for, say, a retiring director.

Others here, as you also know, here approve of small gifts coming out of HOA funds.

I didn't know such a day existed!

I was an hour late this morning; I'll consider that my Manager Day gift.
