I haven't searched the web for a long time looking for hoa youtube or podcasts.

When I did, they were mainly anti-hoa encouraging everyone to bring legal action (regardless of who was at fault).

Thank you for pointing out that this has changed some.

When I became President, I found that I wasn't running meetings effectively. We were consuming a ton of time, nobody knew what discussions were happening, and we were trying to accomplish a lot via e-mail. After a big blowup, I was forced the right the ship and run effective meetings.

I scoured Youtube for example board meetings. Most were junk - drama filled meetings that were poorly run and defensive boards. However, I found one video of an example meeting that was truly great and modeled my own meetings after the style of this meeting. It's rather boring - as an HOA meeting should be - but run well. Lots of decisions are made and meeting is highly professional.

ego trip by MT21 ... modeled my own meetings

All meetings of the members and of the Board are meetings of those bodies, nothing more and nothing less. They are presided over by one person, but they are NOT the meeting of one person. Let's bury that CEO mentality ASAP.

Oh, I digressed there. No favorite YouTube Channels!

To our owners, the most important part of our Annual Meeting is our Open Q&A Session conducted before adjournment. The rest is just typically "boring" minutiae to our owners.
