I wanted to get an idea of various events that your HOA produces. Our HOA does Adult Pool Parties, Ice Skating, Halloween parade, Mother's Day event, Super Bowl party, Casino Night, etc. I'm looking for some fresh ideas....so feel free to share!! Thanks for your input!

Our cul-de-sac is having a block party and my husband came across the following website. www.alltimefavorites.com. It is a free website that is an event/party planner facility that can get you contacts and do the leg work of finding known vendors in the area that you are from. You provide the information and they have the contacts get in touch with you. Just for the record, this was a resource that we stumbled upon and had great response from. We do not know them personally nor do we profit from passing their name along. Good Luck with your party.

Try contests (i.e. Best Holiday Display), if you don't have a newsletter for your community then start one and have a contest on naming it. Be realistic about the winning prizes though...

Some fun events could be an Easter Bonnet Parade followed by Easter Egg Hunts for the kids, Christmas Caroling, etc. Women in the community may be interested in forming a Bunco Night. If you don't know what Bunco is, it is a dice game that gets women together to play on a weekly basis, each week is hosted at one of the women's homes and each take a turn hosting. Our cul-de-sac is hosting a "Carnival-like" Block Party this year that we have opened up to our whole subdivision. Our subdivision is small though. In years past, we only did it for the resident's on our street, and it has gained the interest in the rest of the community. Our cul de sac is about 10 homes and we have been talking about Holiday Open Houses where each home has an open house and during time slots you travel between each home where there is a different offering. You could seperate each house by food offerings like cultural foods or you can have one house do appetizers, one house do salads, one house do entrees, one house do desserts, etc. and every house could supply the others with a dish.. Just a few suggestions. Our new board members were just elected and we are trying to get a new start and trying to encourage "Community Spirit/Pride".. I'm looking forward to checking the responses that you may get so I can benefit from it as well! Good Luck!

1. We have clam bakes at the beach (commom area to all homeowners)
2. Progressive dinner. Everyone goes to one house for cocktail hour, then spilts up to have dinner at other houses (it depends on the number of people), then everyone goes to one house again for dessert.
3. Pot luck dinner. Everyone brings a dish. We use the beach area and set it up with tables.
4. Game night for the kids and also make ty-dye shirts.
5. Holiday parties and Christmas caroling.

Anything to get people together. There are always many homes that do not want to participate - that's ok. Out of my 66 homes, only about 20 homes really get involved and have real fun.

We just kicked off our Holiday Lights Contest. You can see the entry form at www.restonheights.com if interested.

Past events that we have done include a community garage sale, neighborhood picnic and Halloween parade for the kids. I'd like to see if it would be feasible to do a winter pizza party at a local pizza joint that also has video games as so forth, and an Easter egg hunt shouldn't be too hard to pull off either.

Many environmental organizations like the National Audubon or Nature Conservancy are always willing to come and give nature walks/talks which are great fun, free (or minimum fee/donation) and of interest to many people. Audubon does fantastic bird walk tours....especially by the beach it would be fun. Good luck.
