So I've got a question, crowd-sourcing...does your state have any statute or law that discussed rights to pet ownership and minimum reasonable standards that an HOA cannot restrict?

looking for reference source.

I reviewed FS 718 and 720 and don't see anything there for Florida. I don't recall any discussions here that mentioned such a law anywhere.

A quick web search did turn this up for CA which says that condos have to allow at least one pet, but may still have size/species restrictions:

Good find by DouglasK1. A bit more on California's requirement that owners be allowed at least one pet appears at: https://www.davis-stirling.com/HOME/Statutes/Civil-Code-4715 . This law went into effect in 2013.

Else I am not aware of any other state that has such a statute.

From what I have read, the case law that has yielded a ruling on the keeping of pets deals with circumstance-dependent situations that address either (1) the Fair Housing Act's prohibitions on discrimination against the disabled, where the alleged discrimination involves a service animal; or (2) whether an ambiguity exists in the governing documents concerning what a pet is. E.g. In the last 20 years or so, many disputes have arisen over whether a chicken is a pet. The chickens win often but I think not always.
