Unless you bought the umbrella before 2005 HOA restricts your Patio umbrella to the color: dark green, beige or brown. All umbrellas bought before 2005 can have any color and considered " grandfathered" in
I thought rules and regulations are there to have uniformed look. Can HOA make such clause?

Yes. Sounds reasonable to me. It says any umbrella bought after 2005 must be dark green, beige or brown thus a uniformed look.

I'd say too that three (vs. innumerable) choices aren't anti-uniformity. It actually sounds much better than all matchy-matchy.

I can't imagine what 16 y.o. umbrella canopies might look like.

Who owns the patios? Owners? Or are they limited use (exclusive use) common areas?

I had an English teacher in High School that was told they were an "Autumn". Which meant they ONLY dressed in Autumn colors. Her whole wardrobe was always a combo of orange, green, brown, and sometimes white. So that did count for "consistency" as she did dress according to her "Colors".

Consistency or uniformity doesn't mean "matchy-matchy". It means keeping within a theme or combo of approved colors.

Hi,

Yes this is quite common. The thinking is eventually, all the umbrellas will be uniform, but owners who had different colored umbrellas before this rule was made did not have to purchase new ones.
