gated community

I live in a gated community in Florida. A little more than a year ago Sun Community bought our community. Anyway, we have a front gate with a security guard during the day, and after 8pm we need to use the code to enter. From the road by the guardhouse all along the main road we've always had trees and brush to prevent outsiders from entering our park. The new owners have decided to get rid of the trees and brush, and to install more manufactured homes....but not put up any type of fence separating us from people who live outside the community. When asked, the park manager said that we are really not a gated community and that a gated community means that there is a gate so cars can not get in. Is there any statues or laws pertaining to what a gated community actually is? This is a 55+ community and all bought here for the feeling of being secured.

Yes trees and bushes were always there. We own the manufactured houses, but lease the lots. They advertise this as a gated community. Anyway, the previous owners sold the property to sun community, and they are now our landlords. Our prospectus says that we have a security gate. But what use is a gate without some type of fence or barrier?

Gated community usually means you have a gate of which cars are limited entrance. It doesn't usually mean a fence around the whole community. Just where cars can enter.
