Hello

anyone using a VA instead of a full service PM company, particularly for back office support?

Thanks

I'll bite, what is a VA (I know VA to mean Virginia and Veterans Affairs).

In my Association, we hired a bookkeeper to track assessment payments and make deposits.
The current board chose to hire a CPA to do the same thing.

Virtual Assistant. VA.
It's an interesting question.
(But I don't have the answer!)

so here are my thoughts

I know of one company already doing some level of VA service.

you get 1-2 VAs in Philippines to do back office support

see a well known VA website

someone oversees their work, probably a local? PM company and does the local support;

local company does:

the monthly meetings, dealing with home owners, and advisement to board

I see a lot of costs being potentially cut out, an you take back some control

right now I see companies says pay us, and then they tell you what they want, and you get stuck

What constitutes "back office support"? Just curious what specific services the VA will/does provide versus what the local company does.

This is beginning to sound like SPAM.

A "virtual assistance" would do the same thing that is also being done by:

Accounting software
Property managers
Management companies
Independent Contractors (bookkeeping, etc.)
Temporary help

The only thing different would be that, from what I understand in your posting, you would be sharing Association info with someone you might not have a physical address for or that address might be outside of the US.

If I were on the board that was considering such a service, I would say thank you but no.
