interior unit damaged due to moisture issue. Drywall removed from shared neighbors wall. Owner with approval of BOD contracted remediation and reconstruction
.
BOD reimbursed owner for above cost, except now declined to pay for painting stating it is owners responsibility to complete finished walls. Damage was result of exterior water not the owners fault.

Any members have interpretation of responsibility and why HOA should not make unit whole?

Read your documents, which should state what's homeowner responsibility vs. the association. In many cases, the homeowner is responsible for everything from the drywall in, which would make painting your responsibility. You might also file a claim with your insurance company and let it duke it out with the association's master policy.

Painting is a personal choice. The wall was replaced. Did not say had to be original color. Just had to be replaced for function.

How much painting? Some will claim the entire room has to be painted to match.

I've had to pay for all my painting after contractors have "damaged" my walls. Had my Electrical box replaced and had to repaint the wall and patch it. Plumber fixed a fixture. They had to open a hole up to get to it. Had to sand and paint it.

I don't know of many contractors who are going to come back and paint walls.
