What kind of things does your HOA own?

I recently cleaned out the storage unit, and we owned things like bunny suits for Easter celebrations, Halloween decorations, yard sale signs, small PA systems, and the like. Most of it went to the landfill and now all we own are 2 A-frame signs which are stored in my garage. What kinds of things does your HOA own?

I'd really like to talk the board into buying a survey pin finder (magnetic locator, for those in the know) so we could locate the corner survey pins previously set without having to hire a surveyor. We own a lot of property (about 10 different tax parcels) so we have a lot of corner pins that periodically need to be located. I'm not thinking that the other board members will go for that though.

My HOA owns nothing. We do purchase two Xmas wreaths which one owner puts out and removes.

Other than the furniture in our clubhouse, the only thing our association "owns" is the common area (lawns, trees, the playground equipment, etc.). I suppose, you can also throw in a Christmas wreath that was posted on the clubhouse roof, but I don't think I've seen it in three years.

As far as your community goes, it doesn't sound like you have anything to worry about. Are there plans to use those signs in your garage anytime soon? If you have a clubhouse, could They be stored in there?

That may be the best solution- keep association supplies in the clubhouse and do an inventory every few months to see what's thers. When the stuff is used, come up with a sign out sheet, where one can list the name and phone number of who too it, date and time, and reason, such as spreading mulch ( three 20 lb. Bags) in the flower beds at Field and Stream streets.

If it is not right do not do it; if it is not true do not say it. Marcus Aurelius
