We have eight buildings. The building has three levels, a laundry room on 2 and 3rd floor. It’s closet to the elevator and only shares a wall with one unit. Our laundry hours are m-f 8am-11pm and 9am-11pm weekend and holidays.

These hours are based on when security is able to lock and unlock laundry door. Sometimes security forgets to open doors in the am and we have to wait for them to open door.

Is this common?

Thanks in advance. Running for the board and want to get a sense of how other HOA’s operate.

Not uncommon if you hire humans to do the job. If you do not like it, look into other security options. Maybe a card reader? Only keys for owners. Eliminate human error factor because this is what it is.

Our lawncare used to come in the mornings and had to unlock the clubhouse bathroom for them. I worked to 3 am. So usually don't get up till 10 am. I forgot one morning (They only come 1 time a week). A neighbor found one of the lawncare people peeing in their backyard. Guess didn't think anyone was home. So consider human error and decide how best you can deal with it or not.

The last multifamily building I lived in had a community laundry room. It was open 24/7.

A Chicago condo building of 222 units I lived in in the '90's was open 24/7 but it was on a floor with no residential units. Each residential unit had a key.

Are you saying, Clare, that each of your 8 buildings has a laundry facility?
