I’d be interested in reading these discussions if I could SORT by STATE or locality.
I’m in Los Angeles, CA and each state’s laws are quite different from other states laws. I’d rather get TARGETED information from my peers rather than general posts which won’t apply.
I'm on the Board of my HOA in the San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles) CA.

Please reply if you'd like this function.

Jennifer,

I did pose a similar question to the moderators of this site last week. I asked if where the posters screen name is a state could be represented so when we saw the post we would know what state that person is from. There are a lot of states represented on this forum and it can get confusing. Sometimes you will respond to a question and find that the answer you supplied may be the way your state does it, but not the way the posters' state may do it.

The response from HOA Talk was that they are working on it. They do not have the ability to do it at this point.

Jennifer,

I am in California as well as DaneC and JaneK. There are probably others too but I am unaware of them. I think all three of us are well qualified to answer questions although, as we all know, there are different opinions of how a law was written in California.

The Davis-Stirling Act leaves a lot open for interpretation and is full of loopholes some take advantage of. I hope we can help you.

In the meantime, initial posters can list their state in the topic line!

Everyone who posts,
I agree that the very helpful tool for us all would be to post your State first so we can sort out what and where to refer for statutes and laws.
Thanks All, Donna

It is interesting that if you search by California, you get every text string posting that contains 'california' which isn't in order by time stamp. I am very grateful to the sponsors and owners of this site for today's new enhancement, but if we turn them into software developers, I can see this site getting to a point where they charge for membership.

Mel,

That's quite a complex feature to add and I'm not really sure how it would work anyway.

Many of our topics are very generic and apply to multiple states. Other topics may begin with something state specific like, "How to place a lien in California" but that topic may quickly move to answers like, "I'm from Virginia and here's the process in VA.....and I saw this article on CA you might find useful." So in that case, the topic now would help either a VA or CA person.

As you can see, most of our topics are answered from people all over the country.

Best Regards,

Would it be a help to let the site continue as is and provide a search button for different states. This would require the poster to identify the state in each post, then it could be selected automatically and filed under state vame as well.
This would require another search button.

Great idea as long as I don't have to set it up. Haven't got a clue how to do that.

AdrainC,

I only operate at half capacity when it comes to computer drills.

Sorry to say I tried this but I am sure I did the wrong thing.

Caan you go over that again like you are talking to your 3 year old, make that 2 year old.

Thankee
