Hi, I am totally in favor of Open Board Meetings, which our Board does not allow, but now I undertand the Massachusetts has a Bill No. 769 which has had a Public Meeting as of May, 2007 and sits in the Joint Housing Committee waiting tobe sent it to the Senate for a Vote, the question is there there anyone out there who knowss of this bill. Massachusett questions very seldom appear on this forum and I know for a fact, not very many Boards in Massachusetts work as do Boards I hear of on this Forum. So please all you Masschusett Forum on lookers, HELP!

I have contacted my Local State Representative and he acknowleged he would look into it, but it has been months....

ArtN,
We in Florida always quote the Fl. statutes to all of the posters who write about open verses closed meetings. Our Statutes require them all to be open except when the association lawyer is meeting with the BOD regaurding legal issues, etc.

Sadly, most states are lagging in some of these very important regulations concerning HOAs and Condo association meetings and functioning rules.

Most important is that the secrecy of Board meetings being held without member participation is unethical and undermining community involvement. One of the worst delemias that a community faces is apathy amoungst it's members and having private Board meetings is the fuel that fires that situation. Remember folks, it's all of their monies from dues that support the whole association system.
