We are an Illinois HOA.

Should invalid proxies be kept for the current 11 months along with the other ballots, proxies? Are the election monitors also to account for those on the tally sheet as well? Thanks. -ReneeD

ReneeD,
Absolutely, ---DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT AND DOCUMENT. They were part of the vote and down the road, you might need to account for them.

Invalid proxies for any election are as important as the valid proxies. They give credence to the total election. If an elected official questions why he did not get the votes that he thought, you can point to the invalid proxies as one example. There are many elections that someone may call into question why the proxies were invalidated and they may have to be reviewed. Yes, they should be kept with any other documents that made up that election.

The monitors are there to validate the votes, so they should be accountable. A good format is to have each individual that was involved with the information that went on the tally sheet to sign that they agree with that information.
