What do you do about street parking when the driveways are not big enough?

Doesn't matter what we think.

If county roads, probably is beyond the ability of the HOA to manage, or restrict.

If private roads, if no rules are yet on the record, the Board can probably implement. Certainly, the community, per their docs, can.

Don't forget, people there days have more cars per household (more three and four cars these days) and ever seems compelled to get the biggezt, loudest and baddest ride they can afford.

Such is modern life. Unless you live out in the country, there will never be enough room for everyone 's cars, especially when you multip!y by half a dozen homes, all with big bad rides.

I chose not to purchase in those communities.

That said, one option would be to allow parking on one side and not the other.
Another option would be to ignore the issue and let people complain.
Another option is to have no parking on the street.

Personally, I would base any decision on emergency vehicle access.
Have a talk with the fire department and see what they recommend.

if it is a county road but the governing docs say “parking in garage or driveway” but does not say no street parking, does the HOA have any teeth?

Probably not.

My understanding is that in some states an HOA can control public road parking if it is in your covenants. In other states, they cannot. This is usually based on court decisions and not actual statutes.

In your case, the governing documents do not prohibit street parking so it is pretty clear, nothing prevents people from parking on the street unless they are in a no parking area.

If you Covenants say nothing about street parking than they cannot control it. It will be controlled by the local authorities.
