What can be done about barking dogs who bark day and night? I have called the police, talked to the offending owners and nothing seems to help we are just ignored. Any help?

There are a couple of things you can do, First, start logging the times and lengths of the barking, and if possible record them. The check to see if the association documents has a "nuisance" rule that would cover the problem, or if the local government has a noise ordinance. File the complaint with the evidence. Often, the local police won't do anything the first time, but might if you can prove it a continuing problem. If the police don't budge, talk to your local city council rep to give them a nudge. With the HOA board, make sure everything you send is in writing and cites any of the rules that are pertinent, then ask the board to enforce them. If all of this fails, you'll probably be stuck filing a formal complaint against the owner or suing them. In both cases, the log, or evidence, is going to be necessary. Start the paper trail now, if you haven't already.
