As everyone here knows, I created an email account to use on this site.
Many of you have done the same.

Today I was notified by a company on the account I created to finish my account setup with their company.
I verified with that company that the account was created today - but never fully set-up.
The company disabled that account.

Now I have used that email account elsewhere in addition to this site.
Therefore I am not saying the individual got the info from here.
Lets be honest, if it's on one website, it's likely available in a simple internet search.

I simply want to give a word of caution (which everyone likely already knows) in providing any personal info on any website.

Thanks for the heads up.

I've seen recommendations that if you're going to post your email address on a web site, you should do it in a form that will evade the automatic "scrapers" that harvest email addresses. For example:

joe (dot) smith (at) someisp (dot) com

I never use my real name nor any form of it in my email addresses. Also have email accounts just for "junk" email. So when filling out any surveys and such it will go to that account. I don't even use my real name on it. So I kind of know when see that fake name/information where it came from.

Yes, I've had people complain about it! As if I am being dishonest or something. No. I am being protective of my personal information on the internet. There's no rule or law that says my email must be my name. Too many crazy people out there...
