a number of our homeowners played Live Trivia at a local Beef o Bradys. new ownership determined it was not profitable, and it was cancelled.
does anyone know of a Trivia game that we could set up in our clubhouse. Challenge Entertainment which provided the BoB games, does not have one for private groups.
thank you

Are you doing this as a community-building activity for the residents (where little or no money would be involved, but cheap prizes for the winners might be nice)? Just Google trivia games for groups and see what comes up - you may even find local event planners that can assist you.

Now, if you want to run a trivia game to raise money for the association, that could have tax implications, as most HOAs are non-profit, so if that's what you're considering, run it by a tax attorney.

What profit? The HOA isn't to raise money other than from dues. So was the HOA funding these trivia challenges? They should not be.

She was talking about the local company that sponsored the trivia challenge.

I could see a circumstances wherein an HOA makes money on games that are played - these profits could be applied against the overall budget requirement.

In theory, couldn’t the profits be so large that they fully offset the budget to the owners? If this occurred, taxes would need to be paid on the excess above that budget requirement ...

I think everyone is overthinking this. Neighbors used to play trivia together, the bar they played at closed, they are looking for options to keep playing.

OP - Geeks Who Drink is a trivia company that does private events. I have no idea what they charge; google for their website. Or you could try to get volunteers to take turns hosting and find questions on the Internet. Or see if other bars in your area have their own trivia.

I would just buy a couple of versions of Trivial Pursuit board games and be done with it.

Considering some of the drama that goes on in HOAs, maybe they'd be better off playing Cards against Humanity!
