In Ct does a nominee for a position on the board have to be present for the election? Can I motion for this person and get a second motion even though they are not present. This person has a test on the day of the annual meeting. TY

It's typical when a nomination is made from the floor for the board to ask the individual if they are willing to run.
I would suggest you get a written statement from the individual that they are willing to run and serve if elected.
This way, you can provide the statement when you make the nomination.

Do Robert's Rules have any place in running your meetings? Under Robert's Rules, nominations are not motions and do not require a second. Your Bylaws might say otherwise. You obviously only want to nominate someone who agrees to serve, but if you've got that covered I don't think I've ever seen a situation where an election requires the candidates to physically be in attendance. It's not like a raffle where you have to be there to win.
