My mom lives in a HOA community and this is her first time I n a community like this. My aunt gave her the house along with her three dogs, that we are watching until she comes back. To get straight to the point we have 5 dogs in total, they are the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. But my neighbor doesn’t think so. The house is fenced and the dogs can’t jump over because of its height. When I come home I let all the dogs out for 10 minutes to do their business. Just this one time my neighbor was outside and had her little dog with her, well my dogs were barking (as would a normal dog should) but she came over just to yell at me because my dog barked at her and threatened me to be outside with them everytime. I see no harm of letting my dogs out I. My own yard while it’s fenced. Am I wrong to feel like this ? And also she reported us and this only happened once. Please help I what we should do

What are the rules of the Association regarding pets?
Make sure you are complying with them.

5 dogs barking at the same thing can be intimidating (regardless if they are big or small dogs).

You don't say how long your planning to house sit for your mother? If it's only a week or so, it might not be worth creating an issue (angry neighbors) your mother will have to deal with when she gets back. If it's longer, you might need to find some common ground. Otherwise, your home might not be as peaceful as you believe your home should be.

this only happened once is the issue and it’s not like they are a nuisance we feel like she’s taking it to far we tried to limit their time outside but she isn’t happy at all . We got told not to put a beware of dog sign which is reasonable. And we just want to get along but she isn’t having it. They are dogs they bark we can’t control it when they do. Regarding the home situation we might be there for a while and we just want to get along with everyone.

I believe that the rules on dogs or they can’t be a nuisance and have to be on a leash.

I believe that the rules on dogs or they can’t be a nuisance and have to be on a leash.

Unfortunately, nuisance is a subjective term.
What isn't a nuisance for some can be seen a nuisance by others.

You should verify what the rules are.
It won't hurt to verify what the county codes are either.
This way, if need be, you have verified information to fight any complaints.

Doesn't sound like the sweetest dog I would ever meet.

Dont cause any issues for your aunt. Let the neighbor know your leaving soon and your sorry.

I love dogs but would not be happy with my neighbor having 5 dogs especially if they left them in the yard to do their business. I would not went to live next to an outdoor bathroom for five dogs. I think most people would find five dogs excessive. Again, I love dogs and bring my neighbors dog in my house all the time.

Ignore the neighbor. Let the dogs out at certain times but not beyond 10 pm. Tell the HOA if anyone cares to approach what the situation is. Temporary and dogs are in your yard. Plus this is an Animal Control issue NOT a HOA's. So unless the HOA has rules against #1 of pets, size, or other restrictions your not in trouble.

I went through this with a neighbor. The police were called out several times and a few confrontations. I just followed the noise rules and didn't let them out after 10 pm. Plus put up a privacy fence between us. (Ugly side out). In the end there was nothing the neighbor could do. Just cry alone in their room... Mind you they had 3 dogs and were the ones barking. So much so that other neighbors complained about them to me! My dog (4) at the time didn't unless his were out.

Melissa, as someone suggested earlier, many association declarations limit the number of domestic animals which may be kept in a residence. The declaration for the association in which we reside does, as do those of most of our clients. If so in this case, it is an issue for the association although it may also be an issue for the local political subdivision.

I stated this in my comments about the limits of # of pets. Still has to be in the rules to be a violation. Plus this is a temporary situation not a permanent one. Neighbor doesn't have much leg to stand on but can bark all they want.

Steven gave you the correct answer.

Why cause trouble for your aunt? She's going to have to live with
the consequences of an enraged neighbor and (possible) HOA violation.

Tell the neighbor you're sorry and it's a temporary situation. Then
keep your dogs as quiet when outside as possible.
