6 months ago, our Board Censured a fellow Member for 2 attempted assaults on another Board Member.

We had an election in July. The censured Board member was not required to run as he is on the 2 year of a 2 year term. He was selected by new Board to be President. This seems like an change of status.

Does censure status remain in place? Same 2 parties are on the Board so the dynamics have not changed.

Or does the new Election wipe out any previous actions taken against the Board Member?

Why are you asking us and not reporting this to the police?

A censure is a strong reprimand of something the board member did, but once it's done, it doesn't preclude the board member from serving out the term, vote, make motions and everything else board members do. It sounds like the homeowners vote for the board member and the board members choose officers from among themselves, so the real question (in addition to Richard's) is - why on earth would the other board members make this man an officer?
THAT is the question you should take to the board.

The optics don't look pretty AT ALL, so I hope the man has learned his lesson, although I wouldn't have made him an officer. In fact, what's is wrong with you and your neighbors - all of you should have rallied together to recall this guy form the board itself when these assaults took place because this type of behavior is unacceptable!

Hmmm... New board elects new President censored for two attempted assaults. I'm going to go out on a limb here but I think you'll be dealing with bigger problems in the near future.

I agree.
