phoenix arizona. Co-operative 16 units. Board member threated board president upon arrival at complex finding the pool heater had been turned off. The association as a whole voted to not turn the heater on for any more winter visitors due to the incredible costs incurred with heating the pool. Can this member be removed by the board or does the association need to present this issue to the general members of the co-operative to get the person removed? Not sure how to handle this?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

John, this depends on how the Board member threatened. It could be a matter for the police if a serious threat or at the other extreme it could be something to be ignored.

To remove a board member, depending on what your bylaws say, probably takes a vote taken at a duly called members meeting.

Roger, Thanks for the response! Our bylaws were written many years ago and say nothing about removal of a board member. I chose not to call the police. His threat was to take me outback of the complex and finish the issue! I am concerned that this type of behaviour will occur at our next annual meeting. I want nothing to do with a person that seems to loose his temper about not allowing him to turn the pool heater on for the ten days he is here.
