In January and the first part of February 2017 while undergoing chemo, I got off my sick bed to prepare items for the new Board. I had already told the Board Members I was going to resign after the annual meeting.
Needless to say preparing all these documents so that each Board member to have a copy is not an easy task and it is much more difficult when one is sick.
After I resigned, I continued to attend Board Meetings as a Association member.
Some months after the annual meeting February 2017, I was asked (Board Members were still asking my advise at times) what I thought about an issue. I did not have our documents with me so I advised the Board Members to read the Master Deed. The President said he didn't think he had a copy of the Master Deed so I know he had not read it.
He got a copy of the Master Deed and BY-laws when he bought the unit and I also gave him a copy after the February 2017 annual meeting.
Now regarding the problem we had about his grandchildren staying in a unit which may or may not have been a violation of our rules. (Both the current President and myself are studying on this issue) What this man did by calling member to a meeting the day of the meeting is definitely a violation of our rules.
Our documents state that there are 3 ways to call members to a meeting. The President can call a special meeting of the members; a majority of the Board can call a special meeting of the members; or 25% of the members can petition the Board for a special meeting of the members.
This man wanted transparency. I am so tempted to tell him that since he wants so much transparency we should have told everyone that he costs the Association $35.00 when he told our lawn grew one extremely hot summer day that they should not be working until after 8:00 A.M. But I know this would not help the situation any.
thanks for letting me vent.
