I have rural mail delivery. My mailbox is currently across the road from my house with the three other boxes that belong to the people who live on the road across from my driveway. My box needs repairs, and I need a new post. I called the post office and got the okay to move my box to my side of the road. Now . . . which side of the driveway? My thought was to put it on the right side of my driveway since that's the side people would approach my driveway from because I'm in a cul-de-sac. It would mark my driveway nicely. My house sits a far bit off the road. My mom thinks it would be better on the left side so people wouldn't have to dodge the box in order to turn into or out of my driveway. (Nobody would ever turn right from my driveway.) Which side do you think?

As long as your county, the post office and the HOA have no rules about mailbox placement, you can do whatever works best for you.

This is a postal office question. They are the one who delivers the mail. My experience would be best on the right if facing the outside of the house toward road. Find less likely to hit it on the right. That's where I put my garbage out.

Plus there is a height regulations per the post office. Think it's like 36 inches high. Again the post office can provide this information.

Always listen to your mom, put it on the left according to post office rules.

Wherever the USPS tells you !

Seriously, ask your local Postmaster.
