Death and abandon of property

Hi: We had a death in our community that has HOA. There is no will and some family members came after death and took what they wanted out of home. No one seems to come back and take care of yard. Yard is overgrown and a it does not look good. Fire department has posted a notice. HOA has reach out to family members without any answers. Dues are payed up to last month, this month no payment. So it has not been 30 days delinquent yet.
What can HOA due about the yard maintenance?

If this were a community I was managing, I would suggest to the Board that they use their landscaper, if they use one, to maintain the front yard until the home goes through probate and is sold. If there is no onsite landscaper, have the Board hire a gardener on a temporary basic to maintain the outside appearance.

It will be VERY important to file a 'notice of claim' against the estate in a timely manner.

'my' hoa has been there, didn't do that - got screwed

you need to find out who the executor is of the estate.
Additionally, if the property is in probate, notice of claims will likely be posted in the newspaper. However, knowing which one won't be easy. The HOA needs to make a claim against the estate for the unpaid assessments and cost of yard care.

Go to the county courthouse and talk to the register of wills, they might be bale to help you locate who is taking the restate through probate.
