In our HOA amendments they read we should have a 7 member BOD. It has been meeting with a 6 members since last Oct. with the excuse "the he/she) is in training. (out of state). If the amendments read a 7 member BOD and they do not appoint someone is this not against the Florida statue 720?

No, it is not.

Laverne ... you are posting a lot - have you spoken with your pres about your questions?

Have you run for the Board or been on a board previously.

I apologize if I missed your background?

To anyone who said I am posting a lot. Sorry. To George..I was on our HOA BOD, for 6 years. Four as President. I just wanted some others insight. Back ground? No need to post that. No I can not run for BOD. I can not health wise. I will not post on this site anymore

Tim replied to this same question with a different topic name below, Laverne.

The name of th document that says how many should be on the board usually is the "bylaws." There's not such s document called the "amendments."

George,

I'm not sure your statement of posting a lot was received in the way you intended.

The number of posts should not be an issue.
The number of questions should not be too much of an issue.

That said, it did appear that Laverne was all over the map with her questions. She stated that she had served on her board in the past for several years. I would hope that an individual serving as Director for that long would have had the answers to many of the questions she posted.

Laverne,

If you are reading this, as some have email notifications when a thread is responded to, please feel free to post again. We are here to help if we can and to learn from each other.

Tim,

You are correct ... to me Laverne was asking many questions, but we weren’t getting much info ...

Laverne - please post as often as you wish - but, can you help us out with a broader brush as well as specifics?

Indeed. Not knowing that a board of 7 can meet and transact business when 1 of them is absent... well that speaks to a huge gap in what should be basic knowledge for a director.

I thought Laverne's questions were interesting. She would have gotten some good answers and advice here! Maybe she still will.

When I first went to Japan I was told Japanese do not like to say no so you have to frame questions where a yes means no. Also that Ah So meant I understand even if I dislike, I understand. It did not mean yes.

I had an old girlfriend that had a funny way of asking questions. She would say things like you do not like this dress do you. More a statement that a question, rather than ask. Do you like this dress?

When she said you do not like this dress do you. She was wanting a I do not like it answer.

Laverne reminds me of her the way she phrases her questions.
