Our community recently went to a management co. In a election of new BOD, we as homeowners always counted the votes the night of the meeting. Our votes now can be mailed to managements office in another place. We never let the votes leave our office and opened and counted that night.Any thoughts on this?

It is very typical for the PM to be the "Inspector of Elections". This is usually on an agenda prior to the ballots being mailed to the homeowners. Once that is in place they can and should be the only party that handles the ballots besides your own ballot. They should collect and bring the ballots to the meeting play and open on Election day. We would ask for a HO volunteer to assist in the opening and the counting of the ballots. IMO this is all standard stuff.

Snafu: situation normal; all, um, fouled up. But I don't know why RoyP wrote it.

Ballots in double envelopes mailed to our HOA also go to our property manager who keeps them secure & safe in her office while also keeping a checklist of how many arrive & from whom. Our PM's office, though, is on our premises.
