We are starting a 5 year plan to replace all of the roofs on our buildings. Our property manager has told us they are consistently seeing roof leaks from old dishes. They just removed 9 abandoned dishes off of one building for example. Therefore we thought that we should consider writing a rule that once a roof has been replaced on a building, dishes will no longer be allowed to be attached to the roof surface.

We are not banning satellite dishes, they can still be mounted on a wall or other suitable place, we just don't want roof penetrations. I have read the stickied thread pertaining to OTARD

Does anyone have a written example from their HOA pertaining to this subject?

Thanks

Who owns the roofs? Are you in a condominium association where the roof is common property? OTARD says if the home or unit owner owns the roof then an association cannot prevent them from putting a dish on the roof.

Also please read the thread at the top of the forum named, "ASK THE EXPERT: Satellite dish placement in HOAs and condos" It's informative.

As long as any other area is available to mount and most important CAN PROPERLY OBTAIN SIGNAL then the BOD or ACC should potentially have the right to dictate where placed.

If the HOA is currently paying to replace the roofs then they are potentially owned and regulated by the HOA.

The HOA owns the roofs. I had already read the other post. My question was does anyone have an example of a written rule pertaining to no satellite dishes on new roofs.

No installations of any kind are permitted on commonly owned property unless said property is for 'exclusive use' of the member.

note: this rule meets OTARD requirements
