Looking again at adopting electronic voting for our HOA, some things I'd not previously considered (Florida, FS720 governed HOA).

The e-voting system I'm currently looking at will allow an online election to be "open" accepting member votes for a relatively long time. How long can an online vote be held open? i.e. How far in advance of the meeting at which the vote is to be held can we start accepting e-votes? If we want to vote on things that require some form of super-majority that's going to be hard to get (due to participation), can we open up a vote 6 months ahead of "the meeting" and keep bugging members to vote right up until the meeting? I suppose with that long an election, there are complications such as members selling/moving out and no longer being members at the time of the meeting, which would invalidate their votes...and I'm not sure the system I'm looking at would allow us to nullify individual ballots. I suppose keeping the voting period to no more than 90 days (how long a limited proxy is valid) might be prudent, but can we go longer?

Since we still have to allow for paper ballots / voting in-person, the paper ballot vote would be done at a meeting of the members. Presumably, the electronic voting should close before or during that meeting so the results of electronic + paper can be combined and we can tally the total votes and announce results at the meeting. Assuming anyone's done this, when do you close electronic voting? At the start of the actual meeting? Some number of minutes after the start of the meeting?

CA doesn't allow HOA e-voting. I'm curious about what other states permit it beside FL.

I believe about 22 states allow e-voting, including Florida, Arizona and Texas.
