Any words of wisdom/experience on birdfeeder rules & regulation concerns in multi-family communities hanging from upper decks?

Thanks,

Uhm...May be a bad idea. The debris may disturb the neighbor or someone's dog/cat may get sick if they eat it. Love birds. Had one living on my back patio once when I lived in an apartment. Will say it was nice but a mess. Poo everywhere. Had to be careful to wash my hands due to the diseases bird poo can spread.

I agree. I would love a bird feeder, but my DS neighbor would freak out if it resulted in poop on her patio. (I wouldn't like it on mine either).

They are not specifically restricted here, but the language of the rules says the board can ask anything 'unsightly' to be removed. I would imagine a bird feeder could qualify under that.

We lived on the top floor of a 3-story low-rise in Charlotte, NC and immediately installed a bird feeder. didn't take long before a neighbor was at our door inviting us to take a look at her ground unit patio which extended our past our balcony. The whole corner of it was littered with bird seed debris. We took it down immediately.

We just hadn't thought about our neighbors and were embarrassed. don't think there was any rule, but common sense should prevail.

In my current high rise, nothing may rain down on others from our balconies. Subject to an immediate $100 fine. I'm sure that would include bird seed debris.
