Associations operate differently as time passes, with either Board Members or the Management Companies, or Lawyers being names as the Agent for Service of Process. BM's move away, MC's get changed, merge, or move, as a result, important legal notices do not get to the current officials.

Many Associations, especially in Southern California, have about $1,200.00 for the above reasons, lodged with the State Controller. Some have even more, because their bank checking accounts or CD's were turned over to the State due to inactivity.

allows you to search your State's records. Many Associations are unaware of payments over the years, from class action lawsuits against insurance companies.
