I was a Board Member at Holland House Condominiums for some six years. Variance Reports & Board Minutes were posted to our Web site on a regular basis. The last posting for Variance Reports was 12/05/06 and the last posting of Board Minutes was 07/12/06.
I have repeatedly e-mailed Board Members' for an explanation. I was told by the Board President that our Secretary will not post these documents until he can do so in .pdf format. I have asked for "hard copies" and been ignored.

Below is a copy of an e-mailed I received from the Board president, Matt.

All suggestions would be appreciated.

Why don't you just ask for them in paper form, or via email? There is no legal obligation to post things on a web site.

I believe "hard copies" would be in paper form.

Your not dealing with professionals when it comes to your HOA. These people are volunteers. Sounds like the guy is pretty busy with other things than getting the documents put onto the web. Plus the president can't act as the secretary. It is up to the secretary to keep the notes. Atleast in MY HOA, the presidne wasn't allowed to take the notes or do the secretaries job.

This may be a simple issue with the board not having the technical capabilities from the past. I know I don't have Adobe on my computer. It can cost some money for that package. It may have to be approved for someone to purchase it or to agree to use it if they have it already. It just may be still in the "mechanics" of how to organize this stuff for the website if new people are involved with the website.

They aren't keeping secrets from anyone. Attend the meetings and I am sure everything is openly discussed there. I wouldn't depend on website notes anyways. I would want to hear the information live and first hand.

Just as a technical point, with MS Windows of any recent versions, there are many easy to obtain programs to convert documents (like MS Word) to pdf format. They typically work like you are just printing a document. The cost is anywhere from free to the cost of Adobe Acrobat (big bucks).

RicharsG, I think it is unforgivable to hot have documents promptly availabe. I consider the response to be an excuse which is not acceptale. Is it stonewalling or incompetence? If these officers can not do their jobs, get someone who can.
