So in the past year I have been to multiple meetings here in Fort Worth, TX which have been a waste of time with each city department. I was wondering if anyone has had any success stories or methods to use because pointing out what they are not doing goes in one ear and out the other. For example the code enforcement has been about the worse to deal with trying to get them to write tickets. Over two years after I moved into my home things were being written off as nothing seen when clearly violations were there on multiple streets. After having enough of it I went and started taking pictures only to catch the officers sitting in cars/trucks reading or relaxing. I asked one officer if they had gone down a certain street and they said nothing seen yet when one home had mattress's and tires laying against it four homes down. That guy was replaced after massive emails to the city along with video evidence of him walking up to a home saying you can do that and walked off 30 seconds later to a resident. No violation was placed on the city's form later that day. The head supervisor is now telling us that broken basketball goals laying in the yards is not their problem and that children like to play with broken toys. They followed that with a statement they have not seen any massive weeds which I have seen some crawling half way up peoples six foot fences.

Police are another issue here because they have said they have patrolled with nothing seen yet Semi trucks and RV's which are not allowed in the neighborhood show up and have stayed for almost full weeks without anything being said. One time the NPO said they did not know who the truck belonged to so I mentioned how about running the plates. The nearest station is thirty minutes away and police are hardly seen over here yet they NPO says they are at 100 percent and not seeing anything. That statement is such a lie because we had squatters on one street selling meth with a stolen vehicle the police did nothing about for six months.

Any one with helpful advice please do tell because the district director has been included in all emails and not much is happening.

Pertaining to yards, is this an HOA rule they are violating or cit code? Our city doesn't have any codes about yards and weeds so there is nothing for them to enforce.

City code because having that stuff in your front yard the board will get them on anyways since we have it in our laws that all basketball goals must be placed in back yard or garage when not in use. The weeds we will also fine for but the city is supposed to as well if they are over 12 inches long which some are.

I think you are encountering the same code compliance issues which exist in Dallas. We have clients in the Knox-Henderson, Love Field, and Lower Greenville areas and have had similar experiences with the city--except for the Knox-Henderson client. Knox-Henderson is adjacent to the Park Cities, many of the residents in the area have contacts and relationships within the upper levels of the City of Dallas bureaucracy due to their socio-economic status. Issues in that neighborhood are addressed and things get taken care of.

However, our experiences with clients and personally in Plano and McKinney (we have lived in both) have been night and day compared to Dallas. Code Compliance, the police, and the cities in general are quite responsive to the point we file a violation with the city when we can rather than attempting to take care of a problem as a CC&R violation. The city can and does move much more rapidly than can an HOA, to the point of hauling a miscreant into court if need be. Plano even hosts a quarterly breakfast meeting between council persons, department heads, and similar city folks with HOA presidents and property managers.

All I can suggest is you keep at it. Try communicating with the local CAI folks to see if others are having the same experiences and what they may have tried. You may wish to consider working to establish a relationship with your local councilperson, their staff, or even with Betsy's office.

Right now I am about ready to try anything Bill. Our neighborhood was never properly painted with the red lines around stop signs or hydrants and the city gave us permission to paint those yet said it will be our dollar not theirs. For years people have been parking illegally by these structures while Fort Worth does nothing about it. The NPO tends to tell us we are a very safe neighborhood yet we had 3 gun incidents last year, multiple break in's, and a few assaults. We even had a resident tell the NPO he was tired of waiting on them so next time he has a problem just call someone to pick up the bodies. Its not even funny that I had a 2.5 hour meeting with the heads of the police department and mentioned that meth house along with stuff being sold at the creek which they were taking notes like they were going to be quizzed later. Standard times last year for complaints were between 4-7 hours because they mention its on a triage system. They know I am a Fireman so no need to explain heavier stuff comes first before a parking violation. Right now its becoming excuse after excuse of why I pay their checks yet the services are not given to us. Last year I had two underage drunks in my yard having a party next door so I called the police as it was waking my kid up. The call from me was around 1:35am yet I had an officer call me back at nearly 6am asking if it was still happening. When I lived in Denton/Corinth I never had these troubles. Every night the girl next door had this guy with one of those Japanese cars with loud cans on it revving at 2am but Denton was there giving him tickets within 10 minutes.

I had to show my evidence to the city having not only the supervisor fired but a code officer relocated because of lies and not properly doing their job. The supervisor had the nerve to say a basketball hoop was being played with after multiple homes called it in laying next to the street. Having snapped a shot of it a week before the officer stated his case the large "bulk pickup" sign was hanging from it nearly a month. Earlier today I got a message back from the head officer saying no large grass was found yet leaving the neighborhood I took a few pictures of the one home with massive weeds knee high. I blame the city why the board is not further along because it is the departments really screwing us over. The police department and code have told people to move there out of date cars/broken down vehicles every so often so the HOA cant do anything. After seeing a few people bragging about this on facebook the board and I shook our heads because they are not working with but against us. One officer I confronted about trying to be buddy buddy with people said its not our jobs to become victims so i replied so you make the board have targets on their back because your a coward with a badge. This same officer says he drives the neighborhood yet when I asked for his times driving my cameras can seem to pick him up.
