Any HOAs out there file IRS paperwork in regards to lobbying? I know there are certain rules about 501c3 organizations lobbying and you need to submit paperwork. I am pretty sure that ours has never submitted any, but I know that I have emails from them asking us to sign petitions and email representatives in support of different laws. As a follow up, I know that I am allowed to request documents from the HOA, can I request copies of the tax forms to see if they have submitted this?

I doubt any of you reasons fall under lobbying.

I agree. From your post it does not appear association funds are being expended. That being the case, there is nothing to report.

As an aside, we counsel with our client boards not to endorse anything on behalf of the association. If they wish to do so as an individual, fine, but we recommend avoiding situations in which an entity or person is asking for the association to endorse something or someone.
