In an earlier thread I discussed how minimal communication can cause issues.
Well, tonight we had our annual meeting. In my opinion a coup d'etat occurred.
A little background, our Association is divided in two sections across a main roadway. In the earlier thread, I discussed how we ticked off that one section, how a majority of the homes in that section attended a board meeting to voice their displeasure (two hours worth) and that we thought things were resolved. We found out tonight that it really wasn't.
The members within that section attended the annual meeting in mass, 53% in person or by proxy. They had a slate of five individuals (two from the same household) for the Board. Out of 7 candidates, 4 of them were elected.
Yes, I was elected to the Board (barely by vote count).
My concern, hopefully unfounded, is how they will look at the budget.
Apparently we lost the trust of that section and there were at least one good organizer to rally the neighborhood.
On a bright side, we had almost 50% of the membership in attendance (person or proxy) at the meeting.
There is a full slate of board members which allow the work to be spread out.
I'm also very impressed with two of the individuals who appear to not have an agenda to push.
So there are good things happening as well.
Time will tell. Our first meeting is in two weeks.
This was an unintended consequence I thought I would share.
As I like to say, every decision has consequences. Some intended, some unintended.
