Would appreciate pros, cons, cost per gate for RFID & LPR or other type of recognition system; HOA currently using clicker gate entry--collecting information stage. Review of system and how it met HOA needs also appreciated.

We have a clicker gate system with a call box for visitors and vendors. Our gate operators and the control system are going on 25 years old and due for replacement so I've been doing a little bit of research. We'd like to have a better system, one that logs timestamps every time the gate opens. RFID is one alternative. A barcode reader is another. Straight replacing what we've got is probably going to cost between $12,000 and $15,000. Truth be told I haven't been doing a ton of research because we have no reserves for the front gate system and no room in the operating budget to replace it right now.
