Members in our community clear cut their lot in violation of our Rules and Regulations. Because one of the members was on the board, the board decided to not do anything about it. Is there any kind of relief other members in the community can get. Clear cutting their lot is a big no-no here as the CCR's specifically state the lots can only have trees taken when there is an approved building plan and then only the trees needed to build. The purpose of the community is a residential, timbered place. Any help?

Others know more about this than I do, but your CC&Rs also give Members (owners, i.e., you)) the right to enforce the governing documents, which may involve going to court.

Otherwise, can you gather enough Owners together to attend a Board meeting and demand that the remaining directors not play favorites with a fellow director?

If the Board refuses to adhere to your governing documents, vote them out at the next elector or recall them before the. Note: this mean you need others who're willing to serve on the board.

Ditto what Kerry said. I would also call the city and county where you live and see if they require getting permission prior to removing trees. Many cities do have such an ordinance, and they mean it. Where I live, the ordinance requires planting a new tree after the old one is removed.
