Are there any laws and guidelines that our board can follow in order to properly transition from the old officers to the new officers?

For example, can we have rules of when newly elected board member duties actually start? This is so that there's some overlap as the old members finish off unfinished business and leave new members valuable information and give guidance on how duties are to be performed.

There must be some sort of protocol already established on the date of elected board officers to inauguration date, no?

Did I not see this question before??? If not NEW Board Members take over immediately. It is kind of like the movie Titanic ... no matter how many times you watch the movie the ship still sinks in the end. Therefore, no matter how many times you ask the same question you will get the same answer.

In our Country when the new President is elected ... when does he take office?????? Yep ... every 4 years on January 20th and as soon as sworn in becomes Commander & Chief.

Generally past officers will be more than happy to help the new officers for a short time ... if they do not then they are jerks. If you have questions you can also feel free to ask us here on this site. We are more than happy to help any new HOA board get on their feet and field questions.

Can you have rules? Yes.

However, Officers serve at the pleasure of the Board.
Therefore, rules may not mean anything if the Board wants a specific person removed.

keep in mind that Directors are elected.
Officers are appointed.

JK,

As I pointed out in a different thread, we hold our organizational meeting within a couple of weeks of the election.
At that meeting both old and newly elected Directors attend.
The President (who was appointed by the previous Board) runs the meeting until such point in time as the Board appoints a new President (which happens at that meeting).

In the past, we have kept the Treasurer until the end of the year.
This was a Boards decision not a rule.

And I as I noted previously, we have our Organization Meeting where the Board elects officers immediately after the election of directors at the Annual Meeting.

New directors' duties begin once the votes are tabulated and announced. Please refer to relies to the one or two previous questions you asked on this topic.

Are you saying, JK, that no new Board is doing its job since your election?? When was it again? January?
