Hi Everyone -

we have a two phone lines coming in to elevator phone and to the intercom for which we pay some ridiculous amount of 170 bucks total every month.
I was thinking i could replace them with IP video intercom and ip elevator phone and save almost 65%. Anybody has done that or looked at the technologies ?

thanks

Where are you seeing the savings at? The cost of purchase and installing the equipment in the long term will it pay off? You may need to check into codes of the elevator. There are certain codes they must meet for operation. So I would get feedback from the elevator company on any upgrades available.

Great idea, but it probably won't work in the event of a power failure. Your home phone is powered from the phone company, an ip phone would need a ups to power the phone, router, cable modem, etc,,,
