Our community is a mess!!! We have toys, bikes, tools, wood, pails, wheelbarrow, bricks, etc., left outside for weeks and houses look messy!!
Our deed restrictions say the following:
No weeds, underbrush or ohter unsightly growth shall be permitted to grow or remain upon any protion of the Properties, and no refuse or unsightly objects shall be allowed to be placed or permitted remain anywhere thereon.
So we had to define "unsightly objects" which are proposed below:
Unsightly Objects Defined
In accordance with ARTICLE VII Section 2 Exterior Maintenance Responsibility of Owner (b) General Standards of the community, the DRB has determined in order for each Property to maintain a neat appearance, that unsightly objects must be defined and prohibited from the front and side yards-including porches, entryways and walkways.
These items are not to remain in public view on any property overnight. They are to be removed nightly.
This includes but is not limited to the following:
Toys of any type, including but not limited to ride on toys, bicycles, scooters, tricycles, ramps, helmets, skates and sports equipment and goals.
Gardening tools of any type whether they be hand held or motorized including but not limited to rakes, shovels, brooms, mowers, wheelbarrows and buckets.
Garden hoses are to be neatly coiled and placed on a reel or hose box and not left unrolled after each use.
Building material of any type including but not limited to lumber, fencing and plywood
Household and commercial tooling of any type such as workhorses, saws, and tool boxes
Demolition debris of any type
Barbeques, smokers, fireplaces and coolers
Landscaping supplies including but not limited to mulch, fertilize and grass seed bags
Ladders
Landscaping debris of any type including branches, clippings, leaves or dead plants
Automobile parts or fluids of any type including tires and gas containers.
Water cooler bottles including 2.5 and 5 gallon containers
Ripped or frayed flags
Fishing and camping equipment
Cinder blocks, patio pavers, landscape edging and bricks
Newspapers, brochures, booklets and flyers should not be left in the driveway or on the sidewalk.
Building materials for exterior changes that have been previously approved by the Design Review Board may be temporarily dropped off in the front yard provided they neatly stacked and should be removed from sight as soon as possible.
Do other communities have a definition of what is "unsightly"? We just want people to straighten up and it never happens. Curb appeal is everything, right?
Besides, it's just pure laziness to not put away these things daily.
Any ideas?
