I live in the tahoe donner community in truckee ca. I wanted to build a teeter totter (tt)in my yard, so i checked the rules in the td rule book, and found nothing refering to the subject. So i built it. It is a tad taller than most tt's. The hoa decided to have a hearing, which i attended, and argued, that my neighbors have tt's in their swing sets, and everyone is fine with it. They said mine is extreme, which is correct. So i asked them what they would consider unextreme. They told me they would discuss it, and get back to me. They sent me a letter saying i was denied, but gave me no reason or size that was acceptable. They did this at all three hearings, including the appeals hearing. All i want to know is how small i need to make my tt to be acceptable.

Gary,

Welcome to the forum. Please review the forums posting rules.

You never indicated that you asked for approval ahead of time.
Play equipment is typically considered an exterior change.
Most Associations require prior approval for any exterior change.

To answer your question as to what size is acceptable, I would suggest you do an internet search and see what sizes most teeter totters (also called seesaws) are. For example, one commercially available at a big box store that is recommended for ages 3 to 13 is (L x W x H)
101.00 x 40.00 x 46.00 Inches.
