If you were running an airbnb-type service from your home where would you advertise?

I've already been checking on airbnb.com, vrbo, homeaway, flipkey, rentbyowner, roomorama, travelmob and tripping.com as well as the temporary rentals and sublets on Craigslist. Also checked local Facebook groups for rentals. Zip.

We have a cease and desist on this resident and had an Executive session this past Monday. Certified letter went out in the mail today re: fines for transient occupancy use. Deadline for fines is in about 2 weeks. If they don't pay, it's off to small claims. And yes, we're working with an attorney on this one.

I received a call tonight that this homeowner might be at it again with an overnight rental, thus wondering if there are some websites I may be missing. I mean, where could this person possibly be advertising????? They pulled their ad off airbnb.com in late December.

It could be that they are honoring commitments that were made when the ad was in place, or it could be repeat customers that are contacting them directly.

Where did the report you got tonight say the alleged violator is advertising? Or is it a neighbor who's suspicious?

Do an internet search for room rentals and go check out each link.

Do an internet search to rent that address and see if it comes up.

It looks like this is the same Owner you discuss in your last 2-3 posts, is that right, Linda?

Since you're working with an attorney on this, why not ask him/her? Our HOA attorney said at a recent open meeting, that HOA attorneys are making tons of $$ off of short-term rental violations. So I assume yours knows all the short-term rental tricks.

And since you're working with an attorney, why not ask if this owner can legally say she's representing your Association in small claims court?

Speaking for myself, I don't feel confident in the matter with regards to our attorney. In our entire county, there are no attorney who specialize in HOA's. That's why I ask here.

Linda,

Since the CC&Rs is effectively a contract, you might want to consider an attorney versed in contract law.
