Central FL beach side condo complex had roof blown off in Hurricane Matthew. Repairs started next day. Still, 2 months later water is entering top floor units when it rains. The building is has a mansard style roof. The tiles were removed from the mansard and will be replaced. However, the contractor refuses to tarp or protect the mansard portion of the roof. The flat roof is water tight. The HOA, management company agree with the roofing company that adequate protection is in place and ignores the significant water that accumulates in some of the top floor units when it rains. Is there any recourse for the unit owners? When effected owners started attending weekly Board update meetings, the Board discontinued the meetings. Very few, if any, updates are provided. The HOA did hire a public adjuster and now the management company says they do not communicate regarding repairs and to contact a sub contractor of the public adjuster who is doing moisture tests. Contacted that company and they say they have nothing to do with repairs. Contact the HOA and they say to contact the management company. Is it time to hire an attorney or another professional? If yes, any recommendations on how to go about finding professional assistance to get repairs completed?
