Greetings

I am looking for feedback on creating a new website. We have an old and rather cheapish website that is beyond limited in what we can improve.

We have about 2300 members. We are doing little or nothing via our current website.

I am looking for feedback, ideas, referrals on the Advanced cookie cutter websites now available and or on just hiring a website designer to build one from scratch.

We would like to improve communications, invoice via site, and generally leave the 1990's and enter into today's website world.

Thanks in advance

You may have a bigger issue than a bad website. A larger communication issue sounds more like it. I once developed a website and special email account for our HOA. No matter what I did, no one went to the site. Don't think got but 1 email from someone in a year.

I would start out with a survey and some questions on what people would like to see on a website. Plus I would make sure the website is actually known. It may be that people just don't know the site is there or just hate it to go. Isolate the issue of is it the resource or is it the use/knowledge of it?

On bit of advice. Make the site informational (read) only. Do not make it interactive and let posters get into pi$$ing contests.

Take a look at other HOA websites in your area to get ideas.

I agree to keep it read only (unless you want to add a forum section).

I also would recommend that you make it to accommodate mobile and desktop platforms.

As others have explained, I've gotten more traffic on the site from potential buyers then from owners and residents. However, having the site is a selling point based on the feedback I've received (as it shows transparency).
